New Airport Security and Airport Security Rules
Since, the heightened security issues with flying airport queues have got longer as the new airport security checks have taken their toll. New airport security rules are being modified regularly to combat any gaps in airport security. Are the new airport security measures causing flight delays, some of the airlines are blaming airport delays as the cause of their own flight delays due to the lack of airport security staff and measures to process customers through airport security checks quickly enough. Airport security measures are a necessity of the real current worldwide terrorist threat and most people are resigned to waiting in queues as a result of this. The airports have been accused of not providing enough staff to handle the airport security measures in place by the government and as a result the queues and waits are longer as the checks are increased. An airport security pat down or the removal of shoes is more common placed than ever. You can reduce this by packing for security checks by checking current airport security measures, which are available on airport web sites.
Some of the actions you can take to speed up your departure include:
- Pack bottled liquids and other non essential toiletries in your luggage
- Do not carry bottled water beyond check-in
- Small quantities of liquid are allowed if the container holds less than 100ml and must be carried in a see though plastic bag.
- Don’t wait until your flight is called to board, go through the security check as soon as possible.
- Drinks and toiletries can usually be purchased in the departure lounge (check the airport you are travelling from has this facility)
- In the security queue remove your jacket, keys, wallet and phone in the trays provided. Look ahead to see what is required of other passengers in the queue before you.
- Carry one item of hand luggage only.
- Make sure you know when the check-in desk opens and closed for your flight.
These measures will speed up things at the x-ray airport security check and help prevent the chances of you being picked for an airport security pat down.
It has been reported that airport security staff are feeling the stress of the extra new airport security measures. Security staff are being verbally abused and in some cases assaulted by irate travellers. Unions representing the security staff are demanding that extra staff are employed to ease the pressure on both the travellers and the security staff themselves.
So when you are travelling make sure you are courteous and treat the staff with respect as they are only doing their job to make sure your journey is as safe as possible. They are not necessarily picking on you they are usually doing random checks such as asking some passengers to remove shoes or select you for a pat down and not others. Don’t complain, simply follow their instructions and enjoy you trip.
There is no excuse for airlines not to have enough check-in staff, as they know well in advance how busy each flight is going to be. The airlines all know this information and are experienced enough to have the relevant data but still don’t seem to have the correct resources for some flights. Don't blame the staff at check-in, it's not their fault, simply follow the airport security rules and this will help them and speed up your journey.
